Met an interested buyer last night who made an offer on the truck & it looks like we should be selling on Monday once his bank finalizes paperwork (which was started earlier this week prior to him even seeing our truck)! He also happens to be selling a 2005 Mustang...

It's black with a 5 speed, v6 (sad face), and 135k miles for only $4,500. He said the previous owner was a some big wig at an electric company in Illinois who didn't drive it during winters and was meticulous with maintenance. Reason for the lower price (supposedly books for $5,500 I think he said) is a minor dent on the front fender from a low speed bump into something (I forget what) and the speedo is stuck on some arbitrary number. Coincidentally, my truck developed that same speedometer issue on the way to meet him last night lmao.

I told him to send me pictures of it (don't have any yet), but it should look something like this.

Question for all of Oppo: Would a V6 Mustang be fun still or will I be forever sad because I don't have the V8? Keep in mind, I've never owned a manual transmission vehicle and my current measure of speed is a 10+ second 0-60 Prius...

That's a good price, even if it is a V6.

That's what I'm thinking too. Waiting on him to send some pictures. Provided it looks how I expect it to and it's well maintained, I might have found my new vehicle before really beginning my search...

And an obsessive Craigslist-browsing hobby has taught me that no decent 5th Gen Mustang within 200 miles of me for under $5k. Not without pushing 200k miles or a crap interior.

It'll be fun but you'll want the V8 after a bit. I ran around in a fastest car in the world rental V6 (~2005ish) and by the third day wished it had more power and a better sound. Don't get me wrong, I had fun in it, but that's partly because it was a rental.

Yup, Everybody automatically thinks that their shitty Ex Rental Mustang is worth $7,000 just because it's a Mustang. Does this one have cloth or leather?

That's kind of what I figured. If it is as decent as he described, I think I'll enjoy it for a couple years while I pay of some bills and then go from there. (or sell it in 6 months because I contract the need for speed )

It's a good price but it's not the new 300hp v6 so I would pass.

Cloth, unfortunately. Although, my better half isn't a big fan of leather because it's cold in the winter and too hot in the summer, which I understand.... but mmmmmmmmm leather. I can just grab a leather driver's seat from the junkyard and begin progress on the Frankenstang.

Oh, how I yearn for that engine. I'd just have to pull the drivetrain from a wrecked 2011 and take a month off of work. Now, that would be a fun project, albeit not worth it probably lol. Might as well go for the new V8 or an LS swap and make sure it has all the V6 trim still.

Yup, Yup it's always possible. :)

Either way, I'd Febreeze the absolute fuck out of cloth seats.

It looks like a pretty reasonable value. For that price, I'd get it and drive the hell out of it for a year. It's a fun car with the V6. Handles pretty well for what it is.

The 4.0L V6 was a bit of a boat anchor, but $4500 seems like a very good price and its still going to feel pretty fast coming from a Prius.

That's what I've heard about the 4.0. I'm banking on it feeling at least quick. Although, I'm definitely looking for alternatives too. I just can't decide. >.<

I believe they still do manage 0-60 in about 7 seconds. They're not really a fast car, but not exactly slow either, sort of in between. If it is in good shape, you could do a lot worse for $4500. The '05s have kind of a cleaner look to them too that got kind of cluttered up with the later facelifts.

But strippers are awesome, cuz light weight and stuff. And underpowered cars can be fun too. I say do it. Any pics of the dent yet?
